With A última luz do dia [The last light of the day], António Bolota is occupying the space of the Pavilhão Branco at the Museu da Cidade to stage his widest-ranging solo exhibition to date. For this particular vitreous architecture, which opens onto the gardens of the Palácio Pimenta, the artist has conceived a series of site-specific interventions that relate, via a logic of disclosure and concealment, to the scale and symbolic nature of the building and the place. The proposals that António Bolota has been creating place him, whether because of his use of industrial materials, or his adoption of the large scale, or even the dialogue that he has been maintaining with architecture, in a particularly unique position on the contemporary art scene in Portugal.
