Lisbon Triennale Millennium BCP Lifetime Achievement Award

In its third edition, the Lisbon Triennale Millennium BCP Lifetime Achievement Award distinguishes an individual or an office whose work and ideas have influenced and continue to have a profound effect on the current thinking and practice of architecture . In the 2013 edition of the Lisbon Triennale Millennium BCP Lifetime Achievement Award, the jury 's award , composed by Beatrice Galilee , Gonçalo Byrne , William Wisnik , Juhani Pallasmaa , Mónica Gili , Taro Igarashi and William Menking , decided to award the prize to the architect , critic and Professor Kenneth Frampton.

Born in the UK in 1930, Frampton is graduated in Architecture, at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London and currently Professor of Architecture at the prestigious Graduate School of Architecture , Planning and Preservation at Columbia University in New York .

Throughout his career he wrote numerous books and essays about architecture : Modern Architecture and the Critical Present (1980), Studies in Tectonic Culture (1995), American Masterworks (1995), Le Corbusier (2001), Labour, Work and Architecture (2005) , among others.

Kenneth Frampton and the award ceremony will be held on 3rd February at the Main Auditorium of Centro Cultural de Belém , at 7:00 p.m., followed by conference.
Days before Frampton will be in Porto, 31st January, at 9:30 p.m , for a conference, at the Casa das Artes, Porto.

 The prize consists on an original piece of art commissioned by the Triennial a contemporary artist, and this year the choice has fallen on the Portuguese artist Fernanda Fragateiro.

Fernanda Fragateiro lives and works in Portugal. Her work explores the relationship between architecture and sculpture , and how these relationships interact with the urban space and society, from a predominantly minimalist aesthetic . Her work has already figured in Dublin Contemporary 2011 Lisbon Architecture Triennale (2010 ) and numerous institutions such as Fundación Marcelino Botin , IVAM , Centro Cultural de Belém , Galician Center of Contemporary Art , Serralves Foundation ; Culturgest ; Fundació ' la Caixa ' and Künstlerwerkstatt.

The Millennium BCP Foundation sponsors the Lisbon Triennale Millennium BCP Lifetime Achievement Award, since 20107.
