Great participation for Future Architecture Call

The second call for ideas from the pan-European Future Architecture Platform, which ended on 9 January 2017, registered 337 applications from 594 authors from 56 countries. In this new round, Portugal had a more expressive participation than in the previous open call with 22 applications, one of them from KWY one of the resident of the Lisbon Triennale Creative Cluster.

After a period of public voting, the platform members were invited to select their favourite. The most highly supported will attend the Matchmaking Conference held at the MAO - Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana (16-18 February 2017).

As a member since its inception in 2015, the Lisbon Architecture Triennale intends to select three application projects from emerging authors for a lecture at the CCB's main auditorium in the context of Critical Distance series (2017-2019).

Future Architecture is the first pan-European platform of architecture museums, festivals and producers, bringing ideas on the future of cities and architecture closer to the wider public. One of the goal is to promote the exchange between 18 organization members, based in 15 European countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Bulgaria, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Albania, Ukraine, Serbia, Spain, Kosovo).

Aiming to bring cities and architecture closer to the public, the network was extended in this second round of call with the new members such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Portugal), One Architecture Week of Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Bureau-N and Forecast Platform (Germany).

Funded by the European Union, it promotes European innovation, architecture, culture, knowledge and social capital through a single common platform based on the exchange of experiences and the creation of a European identity.
