Conference with Alberto Campo Baeza and Manuel Aires Mateus

Opening of the installation Uma Chuva de Sonhos (Rainfall of Dreams), by Alberto Campo Baeza for KAIROS Pavilion and launch of his latest book Principia Architectonica.


Part of the CRITICAL DISTANCE programme, Spanish architect ALBERTO CAMPO BAEZA will hold a conference with Manuel Aires Mateus, followed by the presentation of the first site specific project for KAIROS Pavilion, Uma Chuva de Sonhos.

Recently awarded the Heinrich Tessenow 2013 gold medal, Campo Baeza will address aspects aspects of his work in a conference introduced by Paulo Henrique Durão. This will also be the occasion to launch Campo Baeza’s latest book Principia Architectonica, published in Portugal by Caleidoscópio.

Sponsored by Caixa Geral de Depósitos and with the support by the Spanish Embassy in Portugal, this free admission event will take place at Espaço LX of LX Factory, at 7pm. This is the 4the event of the Lisbon Triennale’s Critical Distance programme, set to take place at a striking architectural space in Lisbon – the chapel of the mid-19th century industrial complex that currently houses the creative industries hub LX Factory.


KAIROS

Created in 2012 by architects João Quintela and Tim Simon in partnership with the pre-fabricated concrete company Gracifer. An open and collaborative platform for presenting creative practices in diverse areas, KAIROS invites cultural agents from Portugal and abroad to host projects conceived specifically for this venue, taking advantage of its characteristics and ambiance through a very personal insight and research.

The programme will proceed in May with the proposal by Portuguese architects Manuel and Francisco Aires Mateus, and June, with the intervention and presence of Chilean practitioners Pezo Von Ellrichshausen.

For the 2nd semester of 3013, KAIROS is welcoming proposals from creative areas ranging from architecture to visual arts, performance, theatre, music an other artistic languages. Deadline for submission: 12 May. More at www.kairos.pt
