14 Associated Projects join the programme of The Form of Form

From the international call for self-funded projects, ended on 15 December 2015, 73 proposals were received from national and international participants. The curatorial team selected 14 Associated Projects that will integrate the 4th edition of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale.
 

The projects were chosen having into account the pertinence of the proposals in the scope of the event’s programme, but also the diversity of approaches and formats that could bring new paths and experiences in the city.

 

A variety of formats such as workshops, documentaries, guided tours, documental cinema or exhibitions, will open the geographic reach to locations nearby Lisbon, like Trafaria, Cascais and Amadora.

 

Apart from the projects of individuals or collectives, major institutions and events are included in this year’s selection of Associated Projects as a way to build new synergies and relationships with other instituitions. One of such is with MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology – EDP Foundation that brings from London the first retrospective exhibition on two of the most relevant designers of the 20th century – Charles and Ray Eames, in a show curated by the Barbican.

 

Also, the 27th edition of the Amadora International Comics Festival, under the theme Space vs Time, is associated for the first time with the Lisbon Triennale.

The Form of Form takes place between 6 October and 11 December 2016, with André Tavares and Diogo Seixas Lopes as chief curators.
 

 

One of such is The World of Charles and Ray Eames, the first retrospective exhibition on the worldwide famous couple of designers. Commissioned by the Barbican, this exhibition will be a milestone on the début of MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology – EDP Foundation, to open in October 2016 under the direction of Pedro Gadanho (former architecture curator at Moma).

 

The curatorial team made their choice based on a variety of formats and approaches, but also endeavouring to expand the geographic reach of Lisbon to create new interpretations and paths through the city, broadening its territory to its periphery. Initiatives as Another Lisbon, a project that promotes guided tours to less obvious areas of the city; or Trafaria Platform which continues the project Casa do Vapor, started at the last edition of the Triennale, promoting visits to an area in the outskirts of Lisbon.

 

Exhibitions, academic seminars, publications and even consolidated festivals, attest the capacity of the event to catalyse the interest in the exploration of this edition’s title. Some of the applications came from participants of the previous edition, who renovated its enthusiasm on being part of this event, stressing the efficiency and relevance of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale.
