Approaching the ripe age of 25, the Belém Cultural Centre (CCB) remains a reference building in the city of Lisbon. Since its inauguration, it has been the venue of countless performances, exhibitions, conferences and other events. Guided tours focus on the Great Auditorium and the new technical equipment that now means this iconic space is also a cinema theatre. The CCB has a built area of 97,000 square metres on a plot of some six hectares; the complex is divided up by two internal walkways, with the central and unifying José Saramago path creating continuity with Praça do Império square.
