This catalogue documents the two competitions that Lisbon Architecture Triennale launched back in 2010: The Competition for Cova da Moura (a neighborhood located in the outskirts of Lisbon, called Amadora) that involved twenty-one Portuguese universities of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, and the International Competition
A House in Luanda: Patio and Pavilion.
The first of these contests involved teachers and students from the universities in the production of projects (from which thirty were selected) that intend to answer the question: "how can architecture contribute to improve the living conditions in Cova da Moura? This competition was developed with the support of Millennium bcp Foundation.
The second is an International Competition that challenged architects to design a single-family house for the capital of Angola, Luanda, at a very low construction cost.
The catalogue includes interviews with project curators, respectively Manuel Aires Mateus and João Luís Carrilho da Graça, as well as texts by Delfim Sardo and Angolan sociologist António Tomás. The photographic contributions of Inês Gonçalves and the American photographer Susan Meiselas are particularly relevant.
