João Belo Rodeia

João Belo Rodeia is an architect, essayist and critic of architecture, as well as professor at the Department of Architecture of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (DaUal) and researcher at its Centre for Architecture, City and Territory (CEACT). He is a member of the Portuguese Section of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA). He provides consultancy on architectural heritage, as well as consultancy for architecture offices, among contents production and reports, design conceptualization, strategies for external diffusion and architecture culture training. He was President of the Portuguese Chamber of Architects and of the International Council of Portuguese Language Architects. He was also President of the Portuguese Institute of Architectural Heritage (IPPAR) and of the DOCOMOMO Ibérico Foundation. He is a member of the advisory councils of DOCOMOMO International and of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, and was scientific curator for the first edition of the Triennale in 2007, as well as for the Ibero-American Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism in 2008. He coordinated the curatorial committee for the proposal of the first collection of Portuguese architecture for the archive of Casa da Arquitectura / Portuguese Architecture Centre in 2017. He was independent expert for the Mies van der Rohe / European Union Prize in 2015, 2017 and 2019, and was a jury member of the AICA Prize of Art and Architecture and of the SECIL Architecture Award in 2018.
