As part fo the European Architecture Program, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
The Future Architecture Platform announced the 27 selected ideas from the 2021 open call, addressing the theme Landscapes of Care. 457 ideas from 63 countries were received, submitted by 918 individual or group applicants, with projects related to the environment, sociology, construction, infrastructure, economics, urban planning or heritage, among other topics. 142 of these proposals identify the Triennale as host entity, which is very rewarding for us.

Aimed at exploring the dynamics of solidarity and collective self-organization that make up the networks of trust operating at the neighbourhood level and the common transition spaces and activities, this call from the Future Architecture Platform is designed to trigger dialogues around the challenges of a society confronted with the myths of endless growth, the glorification of borders and national identity. This year, emerging professionals from all over the world were invited to present projects that transform our environments, and a Portuguese idea is among the finalists, the proposal Reclaiming Public Space by the Lisbon cooperative Santos Collective.

The 27 shortlisted will present their ideas to FAP members at the Matchmaking Conference, the central event of the annual Creative Exchange 2021, which takes place online on 3-5 March 2021, on the Future Architecture Rooms platform. In turn, member organizations select who best suits their activities under the European Architecture Program. This is the moment when the Lisbon Triennale chooses which are the emerging professionals to take on the design of the exhibition Revisiting Future Architecture Collections running from October 14 to December 11, 2021 at the Palácio Sinel de Cordes. This exhibition, aimed at generating a new and more comprehensive narrative based on the diversity of content as part of a larger project that represents a questioning look at the architectural collections of the members, is the second one in a series that started with Handle with Care: Tales of the Invisible, also exhibited at the palace between 15 October and 12 December 2020.
