Summer school from Australia returns to the Palace
2025 marks the arrival of students from the University of Western Australia who will take part in the summer school between January 13 and February 7, 2025. This is already the fourth edition, demonstrating the success of this partnership.
Curetad by Aurora Arquitectos and coordinated by Kirill de Lancastre Jedenov and Sérgio Antunes, the summer school involves the immersion of twenty-four third to fifth year architecture students in an exploration of the Portuguese capital.
“A building is not an isolated act,” argues the studio, which wants to explore the means of reading the site and how this is already a transformative tool, not just part of the protocol for carrying out a project. The challenge is to interpret, break down, copy, distort and even ironize these raw elements, so that they are returned in the most unexpected forms.
The training includes field trips, talks, exchanges of ideas, work sessions and presentations and challenges in the specific context of Lisbon. Each week, a new exercise will challenge the learning acquired, from deconstructing the elements of a Lisbon façade, to proposing an intervention in a particular building or even a trip to Ribeiro do Cavalo beach to create a space for the summer.
In addition, there will be presentations by national professionals: Lucinda Correia with the Efabula project, Pedro Oliveira from PLCO Arquitecto and from the South, Corpo Atelier.
The University of Western Australia (UWA) was founded in 1911 as the state's first university. A century old, it has four faculties that house various institutions and research centers.
