Presentation tour on Terra’s final stretch
On 18 November 2022, Terra’s chief curators went to Covilhã to give a presentation at the Universidade da Beira Interior as part of the University and Culture National Meeting’s third edition. The meeting took place on 17 and 18 November and brought together academics, professionals, and representatives of the civil society in this school.
The meeting was a joint initiative of the Council of Rectors of the Portuguese Universities and the National Plan for the Arts, under the theme «The Cultural Mission of the University: Definitions, Challenges, Paths». A debate on the pillars that support the relationship between University and Culture was proposed, where the Triennale’s 6th edition is an excellent example, since it is a large-scale event and establishes proximity with the schools of architecture from all over the world, in particular the Portuguese ones, through the competition dedicated to them and the guided tours we organise.
On Tuesday, 22 November, by invitation from architect João Santa-Rita, the curatorial duo presents the Triennale 2022 to the University of Évora, a centre for the creation, transmission and dissemination of culture, science, and technology that, through the articulation of study, lecturing and research, is integrated into the life of society. The chosen motto to launch the conversation is «Triennale: why Terra?», a question that also guided the first day of Talk, Talk, Talk’s discussion of perspectives.
We were also invited to participate in the Worldwide Architecture Festival programme, under the theme «Together», taking place at FIL - Parque das Nações, in Lisbon, between 30 November and 2 December. This global meeting, where the communities linked to architecture and design come together in person, addresses how architecture can respond to the return of post-pandemic collective life, in the light of commitments to fight climate change. How do home life, workplace culture and social engagement operate in this new world? The general curators are invited to a Talk on 1 December at 10h on the WAF stage to address the experience of this year's ambitious Triennale programme. See more information about the WAF here.
Three presentations, three cities - we are amplifying the range of the festival in a decentralised perspective, revealing its extroverted face and coming closer to multiple audiences inside and outside the discipline.
