We are pleased to announce the shortlist for the 6th edition of the Lisbon Triennale Millennium bcp Universities Competition Award. The international scope of the selected proposals enrich the themes addressed by Multiplicity, Cycles, Retroactive and Visionaries, the four exhibitions of Terra. We would like to highlight the commitment of the schools of architecture and other related disciplines in answering to the challenge set by the general curators Cristina Veríssimo and Diogo Burnay, who sought to strengthen the role of education in the central programme of the Triennale 2022. It is imperative to promote the excellent quality of the programmes revealed by the candidates.

Ilka Ruby joined the jury composed by the Terra curatorial team – Cristina Veríssimo and Diogo Burnay, Anastassia Smirnova, Jose Pablo Ambrosi and Loreta Castro Reguera, Pamela Prado and Pedro Ignacio Alonso, and Tau Tavengwa and Vyjayanthi Rao – responsible for this selection. In the words of the jury, «we are delighted and overwhelmed by the high quality of the proposals, and very impressed by the efforts of schools and teachers to advance architectural teaching methods.»

The final winner will be announced at a ceremony dedicated to the Lisbon Triennale Millennium bcp Awards trilogy scheduled for Friday 30 September at 6pm in the charming setting of the library room of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, located in the heart of the city. Opening with a conference by Marina Tabassum, Lifetime Achievement Award winner, the open ceremony also includes the presentations of the Début Award winning studio and the selected proposal of the Universities Competition’s research category, introduced by Ilka Ruby, architect, curator and co-founder of Ruby Press publishing house.

The first prize in the Masters category is worth 2.000 euros, to which up to four honourable mentions worth 500 euros can be added. The research category proposals selected in the first stage of evaluation  will also be part of a digital anthology to be launched during the opening days of the Triennale 2022.
