Trienal de Arquitectura de Lisboa

These are the winners of the Competition of Ideas for the Santa Clara Market

The Lisbon Triennale announced on December 14th, at the Sinel de Cordes Palace, its headquarters, the winning proposal and two honourable mentions of the Competition of Ideas for the Santa Clara Market, in Lisbon.

Filipe Madeira and Vânia Saraiva are the authors of the winning proposal, that through a pragmatic and flexible system of compartmentalization of adjustable canvases easily allows different configurations, typologies and transformations of the space of the market.

The jury decided to also give two honourable mentions to Rui Gonçalo Simões Gonçalves Mendes, and the team made up by João Pedro Cravo, Bernardo Sousa, Diogo Lafaia and Pauline Gasqueton.

Launched in July, and with a deadline on October 9th, we received 26 proposals presented by architects or informal collectives that focus on architecture.

The jury was composed by architects Alberto Souza Oliveira and Matilde Cardoso (Junta de Freguesia de São Vicente), architect Margarida Grácio Nunes (Câmara Municipal de Lisboa), architect José Mateus (Lisbon Architecture Triennale), and architect Pedro Geraldes (Clube de Criativos de Portugal), and had as main criteria the technical feasibility of the ideas, resolving the building’s technical problems, and the economy of means when adapting to different uses.
