About the Place
The configuration of this typical apartment in Bairro Lopes, a modernist but modest and not very well-known residential area next to Alto de São João, determined the main challenges in this renovation. To improve the narrow, stretched-out morphology, the succession of small, dark rooms along a corridor was expanded and the rooms were opened up to the other spaces – giving rise to a cohesive spatiality in which ambiences merge and experiences are crossed. The fluid, sequential circulation follows the path of the sun, from the bedroom area in the east to the reception spaces at the back.
