Although the Campo de Ourique neighbourhood is predominantly residential, you still find some industrial buildings here and there, such as warehouses and factories. One of these buildings, an old warehouse, was recently transformed into a single-family home, where traces of the previous purpose remain. The front and rear facades are detached, giving rise to two inner courtyards, symmetrical in position, and one of them retains the old chimney. The programme was planned to place the most compartmentalised areas – bedrooms and bathrooms – on the ground floor. Then, on the first floor, the support areas such as the kitchen and storage area are organised around the perimeter, freeing up a sizeable central space – the living room. Its front and rear faces, all in glass, replicate the shape of the facades, emphasising the archetypal form of an industrial warehouse.
