About the Place
As one of a group of buildings of the undulating Rua da Cidade de Cardiff, its structure falls under the “gaioleiro” type, the usual building typology of the end of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century. The high degradation stage and the necessary adaptation to contemporary requirements called for a thorough rehabilitation, keeping the original facade with its tiles, and completely redoing the interior areas and rear facade. The new partitioning subdivides the space into two flats per floor, T1 and T2. On the back facade, new steel balconies interact with the old glassed balconies and the geometry of the adjoining buildings, highlighting its relationship with the adjacent retaining wall.
