About the Place
Composed of featureless blocks, scattered throughout the terrain, and located in a very degraded neighbourhood, this school was rehabilitated between 2009 and 2011. The project focused on the creation of a new identity through the rehabilitation and reorganization of the existing blocks, adapting these to new demands and redesigning their exterior image in a search for unity and harmony. For the entrance, there is a new building, which presents itself as a solid white concrete volume with a scale the matches the city’s, creating a new limit for the school. This intervention resulted in a more welcoming environment and in a greater safeguard regarding its surroundings and the adjacent buildings.
