Garage Films

This project was commissioned by an audio-visual production company to establish their workspace inside two industrial warehouses in the Belém area. It is based on the reuse of pre-existences: structure and exterior walls in solid brick, and roof supported by wooden trusses. Through the modular interruption of the structure, an open central courtyard was introduced. The interior openings as well as the exterior ones, which dangle over the southern façade, disclose clear project decisions. In the courtyard, they determine the spatial continuity and permeability between exterior and interior, and in the exterior façade, they frame the views and solar exposure. Floor, ceilings and partitioning share aggregating solutions for the entire space, namely polished concrete with black pigment, thermal insulation covered in aluminium foil and partitions (MDF shelves) with an intervention by visual artist Gilberto Reis.
