This major intervention for five housing blocks and a parking lot on Avenida das Forças Armadas, part of the Operação Integrada em Entrecampos, was launched in 2018 by the City Council. Defined around a public garden, it continues EPUL’s surrounding constructions from 2005 to allow a pedestrian connection to the university campus through garden areas. The construction of new housing at controlled costs promotes sustainability, governed by principles of functionality and economy of means and developing optimised forms of spatial, structural and infrastructural design. The Pilot-test Building served as a trial for the implementation of these methodologies and is already inhabited. Two other lots have been completed and the last one is under construction, in a total operation of 45,000 m2 of housing.
