Largo Residências

This is an example of a social market approach – architecture with the aim of changing the sociological environment of the city. The mission of the space is to contribute to local development through the realisation of cultural activities and social business activities that stimulate artistic creativity and the involvement and integration of the local community. Based at Largo do Intendente, Largo Residências promotes its socio-cultural activities throughout the whole neighbourhood, with Largo do Intendente itself serving as the stage and the adjacent streets as a focus of the most urgent social intervention actions. The areas of action occupy different spaces in the building: on the ground floor, Largo Café Estúdio e Loja serves as a social business enterprise and a meeting place for all the target groups; on the 1st and 2nd floors, Largo Hostel & Suites is devoted to holiday accommodation rentals, one of the pillars of economic sustainability for the whole project; and on the 3rd and uppermost floor, Largo Residências Artísticas offers private studio spaces and rooms for the artists in residence at Largo.
