This public infrastructure intends to give Terreiro do Paço back to the city, which was for many years confined to the activity of the ministries located there. Occupying the ground floor of the ensemble’s eastern wing, this interactive public infrastructure proposes to tell, from past to present, the main events that happened in the city. It aims to be a foothold to the square’s attractiveness and simultaneously plays an important role in Lisbon’s strategic tourism plan, reinforcing the city’s own particular values and identity. Fulfilling the essential job of presenting the city through its history, various episodes are displayed in an invitation to travel in time, revisiting memories, influences and stories that mark the evolution and design of Lisbon’s urban landscape. In a combination between history and technology, this space allows for a voyage through the city’s culture, organized in six cores that approach different periods and themes.
