Loft in Vale Formoso

  • Interventions:
  • Promontório
  • (2008 reabilitação)

This loft with a view of the River Tagus has the peculiarity that it does not divide the 500 sq. m of space of a former office up into rooms, with the exception of bedrooms, bathrooms and a gym. The five-storey building with ceiling heights of five metres and goods lifts features a concrete structure supported by a number of square-topped columns that contrast with the residential scale of the mezzanine floors and narrow corridors. The living room is surrounded by light walls, around which one circulates, preserving the freedom of the original warehouse. Simple materials and building details left raw, such as the electric hoist on the ceiling in the reception spaces, guarantee that this design respects the building’s post-industrial ambience.
