This huge rural property, located in a former agricultural estate, has been modified over the centuries. The palace, an 18th-century architectural complex in mainly neoclassical style, was built by the first Duke of Lafões after the earthquake of 1755. It was based on a family summer residence, a palatial structure on a smaller scale and of lesser importance, which in turn was based on old agricultural support structures, the origins of which have been lost over time. Of the original design, we can still see the L-shaped main body, with the north façade facing the farm and the main façade facing the gardens. Many additions were made, but the original plans were never completed, as the idea was abandoned at the beginning of the 19th century.
