- (em construção)
The Lisbon Drainage Master Plan aims to protect the city from flooding and prepare it for the challenges of climate change. Implementation of the plan by 2030 will involve measures to reinforce, rehabilitate, register and monitor the sewerage network, as well as the construction of retention basins and two large drainage tunnels. In addition to mitigating the social and economic impact, the tunnels are also a response to environmental issues: the existence of anti-pollution basins to collect and store rainwater, and the use of recycled water for street washing, watering plants and firefighting purposes. It is possible to visit the excavation of the first tunnel on a 5 km stretch between Monsanto and Santa Apolónia.
