Birdsong Headquarters

A studio, headquarters of a fashion communication agency, occupied the ground floor of a residential building in Alcântara – a neighbourhood that stands out as one of the city’s creative hubs and where rail and maritime connections cross. Discreet on the outside, the space is organised as an open space. The curious finishing of the walls, emphasising its previous industrial and rustic character, is surprising. The plaster coating was removed, revealing the most brutal elements (stone and solid brick). Through artificial lighting, in a set of suspended lamps and LED strips, the irregular textures are noticeable and contrast with the smooth microcement flooring. The infrastructures are visible – electrical wires, pipes, and ducts. As for the other new elements, those stick out in a figure-background effect, such as the white metallic structure creating a mezzanine, and the stairs that access it, made of bent steel plate.
