Positioning systems: techniques of disappearance
Lila Athanasiadou and Maria Alexandrescu

About this event
Adorno argued that rationality and mimicry are irreconcilable; one attempts to separate subject-object, the other recedes the subject into an background. Roger Caillois described mimicry as assimilation into space: the inability to perceive one's position in it. In this performative lecture and workshop, we examine perspective as linked to linearity of time, causality, sequentiality and a separation of self with other; all ontological pillars of modernity, and how they can come undone.
