Júlio Pomar Studio-Museum
- Interventions:
- Álvaro Siza
- (2012 reabilitação)
Initially intended as the painter Júlio Pomar’s studio, this space today serves as a museum that archives and disseminates his work as part of the network of Lisbon City Council’s cultural facilities (EGEAC). The former warehouse, located in the compact and dense fabric of Lisbon’s historic centre between Santa Catarina and São Bento, was renovated to a design by Álvaro Siza in 2013. The two-storey building features a central exhibition space, two store rooms, service areas, an office, an auditorium and a reception zone; a hidden exterior patio around the building provides access to visitors. The renovation project conserves the essence of the original building through its most important features: the volume, the structural walls and the roof.
