Hotel Verride

The old Palácio de Santa Catarina is under the protection of the statue of Adamastor, in a privileged location in the square of the Santa Catarina terrace. In 2017, it was finally remodelled and converted into a luxury hotel. To maintain the palatial quality of the surroundings, guests can choose between booking the 18 rooms individually or, for even more luxury, entire floors. The hotel has a restaurant that can be directly accessed from Travessa da Portuguesa, which uses the original vaulted ceilings and masonry arches to excellent effect. There is also a surprising breakfast room clad in azulejo tiles. It faces east and extends onto the outside terrace that ends in a pool overlooking the Bica neighbourhood and the River Tagus. At the top there is a small lookout point that provides 360º views over Lisbon, but with restricted access.
