About

Forecast is staging a takeover of the Sinel de Cordes Palace for a weekend in April. As a member of the European platform LINA, Forecast is hosting an open programme to discover and promote initiatives in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area that have developed sustainable strategies for working with—and not just in—their environment for better coexistence. During the takeover, the Triennale will become one of the mentored participants, sitting at the table with the other selected projects as mentees.

Whether you reclaim building materials from waste or work on land protection, tackle issues of craft, design, or communal procedures, be it groundbreaking methods or simple tools: Forecast is looking for approaches that work. It doesn't matter whether these are traditional, long-established solutions or very recent, newly developed ones.

With this open call, Forecast wants to find out what is specific to each project and asks: What was the challenge here, what did you want to tackle or change? How did you proceed in your search for solutions? How and why does your strategy work, what change did it effect? What is the best way to summarise your process, from problem to solution?

The selected initiatives will be portrayed in a series of short documentaries that will be freely accessible online, enabling future participants to gain insights from these practicable blueprints. From April 29–30, participants will delve deeper into the selected initiatives in workshops and roundtable discussions at the Palace Sinel de Cordes, and can, in addition to this, partake in Forecast Condensed—an experimental form of mentoring that is empowering, constructive, and opens up new channels of knowledge and expertise.

What is Forecast

Forecast is a Berlin-based, internationally active platform dedicated to the support, mentoring, and promotion of trailblazing creative practices and audacious artistic practitioners. It runs a mentoring programme which helps to realise projects whose social ambition and innovation potential stretches far beyond themselves. It supports sustainable knowledge exchange across genres and disciplines to promote open discussions of promising concepts.

Forecast has developed the workshop series Forecast Condensed, which offers creative individuals and collectives from a wide range of disciplines the opportunity to examine projects and to enhance their chances of success. A panel of mentors from multiple fields of expertise offers creative individuals, groups, and organisations advice and feedback on their projects. Forecast’s approach can be described as a prototypical development process. Each project is sounded out to find exactly where its distinctive qualities, promise, and potential lies.

Forecast is the initiator of collaborative projects with multiple institutional partners, such as Driving the Human (2020–2023) and Housing the Human (2018–2019).
