Making Buildings: 2003 – 2013
Operating pre to post crisis OMA partner Ellen van Loon will discuss the process of building OMA’s projects, how it has changed and how it has remained the same.
In 1998 Ellen van Loon has joined OMA, a studio which encompasses some of the most iconic modern buildings in the world, including the award-winning Casa da Música in Portugal (RIBA Prize 2007). Several of her projects combine sophisticated design with precise execution such as the Rothschild Bank headquarters, Maggie's Centre near Glasgow and the Dutch Embassy in Berlin, (winner of the Mies van der Rohe award in 2005). Her specific expertise is grounded in the balance of business acumen and an in-depth understanding of all technical and operational aspects.
