Amadora International Comics Festival is an annual cultural event that has taken place since 1990. It includes exhibitions of comics authors from all over the world, is attended by some of the most high-profile national and international artists, side-by-side with new authors and also features conferences, presentations and book launches, amongst other activities.
In 2016, given the association with the Lisbon Triennale, the theme of the festival is “Space vs Time”, a subject where the language and techniques used in comics offer particularly interesting artistic options that will be of great interest to the public. At the same time, it is one of the questions that have most preoccupied architects since Vitruvius in the design phase, not only in terms of the relationship between spaces and the users of those spaces, but also with regard to the effect of the passage of time on an architectural work – from its construction to its eventual ruin.
