José Mateus represents the Triennale at Arquitecturas Cruzadas

José Mateus, the Triennale's Chairman, participates in Arquitecturas Cruzadas (Intertwined Architectures), which takes place on 20 March, at Palácio Foz, Lisbon. Promoted by the Serra Henriques Foundation, an important institutional partner of the Triennale's activity, the conference brings together various experts, under the pretext of the presentation of four books of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Arquitecturas Cruzadas gives continuity to the intention of valuing the territory and cultural patrimony, promoting good practice and the understanding of the built environment. With the objective of contributing to the development of critical awareness, José Mateus, representing the Triennale, joins eleven other experts, including Ana Tostões, Álvaro Domingues or José Baganha. A broad and informal debate with two guest panels, moderated by Paula Melâneo and Francisco Adão da Fonseca. Conversas Cruzadas (Intertwined Conversations) arise from the presentation of four books: Isto é Arquitectura Moderna; Viagem ao Invisível; Um Projecto de Futuro para a Beirã, Marvão; and Retractos do Ensino da Arquitectura em Portugal. 

These publications respectively concern a retrospective representative of modern architecture in Portugal, focusing on 10 of its most iconic projects; an analysis of patrimonial revitalization, conservation and rehabilitation, with 15 examples of good practice; an overview of academic work focused on the valorisation and rehabilitation of traditional architecture, with projects by architecture students; and a reflection upon the teaching of architecture, through an overview of the last eight years of the Archiprix academic award. These intertwined Conversations and Architectures are the ideal opportunity for our paths to intertwine on the 26th, between 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., in the amazing backdrop of Palácio Foz (Praça dos Restauradores, Lisbon).
