Trienal de Arquitectura de Lisboa

The year under review by Future Architecture Platform members

Date
09 NOV 2020 - 10 NOV 2020
On 9 and 10 November 2020, the 26 members of the Future Architecture Platform meet to discuss the activities that have taken place over the course of this year and to reflect on the platform's future strategy. This meeting between representatives of the member institutions, which is usually held in one of the member cities (it was planned to be in Kiev), will this time be in online format due to the mobility restrictions of the pandemic context.

The Lisbon Architecture Triennale will present the results of its activity which consisted in the development of the exhibition Handle with Care: Tales of the Invisible, about this journey through the archives of three museums, curated by Sonja Lakic and with exhibition design by Diego Sologuren. This was an excellent opportunity to further develop cooperative relations with the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana (Slovenia), the MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome (Italy), and the Estonian Museum of Architecture based in Tallinn.

At this meeting we will have the opportunity, on the one hand, to learn in detail how each of the initiatives have gone in a year that has required great agility in order to adapt to the context of a pandemic, and on the other hand, to discuss the future events of the members in conjunction with a new call for proposals that is in preparation 2021.

This time, the 2021 Open Call is dedicated to the theme of Landscapes of Care. Announced in November, applications will run until January 2021. The platform invites proposals that explore dynamics of solidarity and collective self-organisation, networks of trust established on a neighbourhood scale, and transitional common spaces. It will engage in dialogue around the myths of endless growth, exclusions from nationalism and the cruel trials of austerity. This round of call enables new bridges to be created between emerging multidisciplinary talents and institutions such as museums, galleries, publishers, biennali, and festivals that are recognised by a programme of recognised quality.
