The launch event of Open House Europe
The launch event organized by Architektūros Fondas that gathers representatives of the 11 cities —including the coordinator of Open House Lisboa Carolina Vicente— consists on visiting the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, the educational media center "Lojoteka" and discovering the most historical part of Vilnius. The official kick-off of Open House Europe takes place at the National Gallery of Art with a welcome speech by its coordinator, inviting all partners to present their local open house. The day ends with a discussion on architectural literacy and public involvement in city making, featuring speakers Dalia Čiupailaitė (urban sociologist), Tadas Jonauskis (urbanist), and Adelė Dovydavičiūtė (architecture activist), who will be moderated by Matas Šiupšinskas.
On March 4th, a coordination meeting at the emblematic cultural center SODAS 2123 in Vilnius aims to discuss the overall structure of Open House Europe programme; how to integrate audiences with hearing and visual impairment and reach international audiences. It includes an open debate about the theme for 2023: Sustainability with a review of the future agenda.
Finally, the encounter focuses the Volunteer exchange programme and the Annual summit, taking place in Lisbon, at Triennale’s headquarters
The Open House Europe promises to be an informative and inspiring experience for architects, cultural specialists, and the general public. Co-funded by the European Union, it’s a New Initiative for Promotion of Quality Architecture in Europe joining forces with 11 Open House cities in Europe!
The launch event is available online via the Open House Europe Youtube channel on March 3 at 18:00 (GMT +2).
