Triennale’s network of partnerships
By working in the context of architecture, the mission of the Triennale has been dedicated to the investigation, stimulation and promotion of that discipline's thinking and practice, through an extensive and diverse programme. Since our foundation in 2007, the Triennale has relied on the involvement of leading Portuguese cultural patrons with a strategic role. Such is the case of EDP Foundation and Millennium bcp Foundation, alongside a group of Associates on our basis.
The Triennale does more than our triennial event, carrying out a continuous programme based on events of different durations, dimensions and formats. With plural participation, such events take place in the most diverse cultural spaces, including public areas or unusual places, both in Portugal and abroad. Each of them relies on the critical support of a network of private partnerships that has been expanding over the years, which adds to the public funding from which we benefit.
In addition to the programmatic dimension, we have on our hands the refurbishment of Palácio Sinel de Cordes, the house that accommodates us, ceded by the Lisbon City Hall in 2011, so that we can revitalise a cultural space and a creative cluster that houses studios and collectives that work in architecture and related creative areas. This 18th Century municipal heritage has been the object of renewal works by the Triennale, to become more adapted to its new function. This intervention was carried out in 2020 in a phased process and focused on the restoration and conservation of the entire main floor dedicated to the programmes, including the installation of a new lighting system. More and more frequently, this house has been open to the community, namely with the hosting of independent cultural proposals. The venue hire for private or public events has also been a source of additional funding to help in the pursuit of this thorough renovation.
In the future, it will also be the home of a co-working space and home to more culture and small companies related to architectural or social purposes, supporting the development of local economy and entrepreneurship in three-year cycles. You can find here who is currently part of the Triennale’s creative cluster.
Workshops, editing, design, insurance, transportation, installation, flights, accommodation... The list continues, but these are some of the premises underlying the preparation of each initiative, from exhibitions to cycles of debates or conferences. Thus, you can be at our side in the commitment to bring architecture to more people, make the discipline more available and allow the knowledge that comes from its reflection and discussion to be disseminated in a wide, accessible and long-lasting fashion.
