Odivelas had a central role in the northern expansion of Lisbon through the fixation of migrant and immigrant populations in the second half of the XX century. The reason for this process was the speculation of land prices made by the Duarte Pacheco’s Plan for Lisbon during the dictatorship, the housing problem and the availability of these rural proprieties. Having this in mind we will analyze the occupation of the territory by observing the orographic system and the slopes occupation of the Valley, understood here from Amadora to Loures, by constructions of different nature. Between the baroque monument to Sr. Roubado and the subway station of Odivelas we will get to know the first attempts to regulate the urban construction of Odivelas in Quinta da Memória, the following experiences resulting from urbanization processes of private initiative and the different mobility roads (from the industrial road to the metropolitan high-way) that mark this urban space.
