We are going to cross the river by boat to meet Almada’s river-front, it’s view to the estuary and its urbanization and the development of the south shore into a wider and heterogeneous space. We will discuss the metropolization of Lisbon getting go up the Ginjal lift, getting to know Old Almada and the contrasting urban spaces built around it during the XX century. We will talk about this process and it’s specific aspects. Causes, how it was built, it’s plans or absence of plans and how it shaped/was shaped by the contemporary urban ways of life. We will show you the estuary as a central space of communication and distance between densely populated areas to understand the dispersion of the social space in confronted by the stiffed institutional and administrative systems of the post-metropolitan Lisbon.
The visits are free.
