An architect and architecture critic, Luís Santiago Baptista holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Architectural Culture from the Technical University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Architecture (FAUTL) and is currently studying for a PhD in Architectural and Urban Culture at the Faculty of Architecture of Coimbra University. Between 1999 and 2003 he was guest lecturer in the Department of History and Phenomenology at FAUTL. He has given lectures and seminars at various institutions and his work has been published in Portuguese and international magazines and books. Since 2006 he has been editor of arq/a magazine, where he has also been a contributor since 2001. A member of the curatorial board of the exhibition Habitar Portugal 2006-2008, he curated the geração z cycle of events and co-curated the Portuguese representation in the Norte-Sul exhibition for the Lisbon Architecture Triennale in 2010. In 2016, he curated the exhibition Architecture in competition: a critical path through Portuguese modernity.
