Matière Sensible

©Atelier Fernandez & Serres

The multiplicity of the notion of “matter” is the standing point to talk about two houses recently built, side by side, in a golf course in France. The topography of the site and its relation with the context, the building components and the exploration of the legacy of the history of form are made explicit as the real materials that build Architecture. The exhibition of the photographs, drawings and models of these two works is a visible manifest of the research that presents two distinct answers for a similar program based in similar premises: the sloping site, the use of apparent white concrete and the exploration of the square plan, recurrent in Andrea Palladio’s work.
The notion of “sensitive” is also multiple: in the relation with the landscape, in a broad sense, in the tactile and visual characteristics of the work (textures and luminosity) and on the manipulation and careful appropriation of formal models.
