Álvaro Domingues, Melgaço, 1959. Geographer and Professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Oporto, where he is also a researcher at CEAU – Architecture and Urban Studies Center. In addition to his teaching duties at the University of Oporto and other universities, he regularly publishes texts and books focused on issues related to urban geography, urban planning and landscape. Of his most recent works stand out A Rua da Estrada (Dafne publisher, 2009), Políticas Urbanas I and Políticas Urbanas II (with Nuno Portas and João Cabral, Gulbenkian Foundation, 2003 and 2011), Cidade e Democracia (argumentum, 2006), Vida no Campo (Dafne publisher, 2012) and Território Casa Comum (with Nuno Travasso, FAUP, Porto, 2015). The book Vida no Campo won the prize for Best Original Photography, in the 2012 Edition awards given by the magazine Read / Booktailors. The book A Rua da Estrada, was the basis for the homonymous short film produced by Graça Castanheira, which won the award for Best Documentary in 2014 in the 2nd edition of the Architecture Film Festival, Lisbon.
