The School of Architecture at the University of Minho is an organic unit of teaching and research with academic (scientific, educational and cultural) and administrative autonomy.
In exercising its autonomy it opens itself to interdisciplinary perspectives and aims to provide, in a context of knowledge complementarity, research and advanced training programmes, and promote the provision of services to the community, in collaboration with other departments and institutions.
The School of Architecture offers the ideal human and material resources for development of its scientific and educational activities, whether in individual projects or in partnership with other units, and whether national or international.
By pursuing its own path, the School of Architecture’s has been able to survive in a system where, until recently years, only the oldest institutions anchored in the national urban centres held sway. Thanks to a balanced combination of strategic focus, scientific merit and persistent work it has gained distinct recognition.
