Description is project. To create descriptions and analyses of the physical world, architects use a sophisticated arsenal of instruments of their own. These actions intersect the interests of economists, urban planners, investors, political agents and also involve various audiences in a new understanding of the city. In describing, architects create and refine the instruments of their own discipline, generating relevant representations of various territorial and urban conditions that allow them to operate on them. Architects not only have "eyes" to observe the city, but are also able to orchestrate complex investigative apparatuses necessary to map it and understand our world. Describing is projecting, and this main exhibition of Triennale 2016 aims to celebrate how this powerful hypothesis continues to reverberate today.
In Portuguese only, this volume is part of a collection dedicated to the core exhibitions of the 2026 Triennale. The three other titles are: A Forma da Forma,Obra and Sines, Logística à Beira-mar.
