The Building Site is the place where architecture takes shape. Construction has an enormous impact on the economy and on labour relations, and architectural decisions are linked to the social status of this activity. The way in which architects design can provide a certain way of organising the building site, as well as the current practices of the construction industry tend to drive the formal decisions of architects. It is a two-way relationship that feeds the transformation of society. When buildings are under construction, they require a huge amount of physical and intellectual energy. Once the work is finished, this energy remains silent and we need to return to the original archives to understand what was at stake at that crucial moment.
