Open House with support from the European Commission

On 26 September 2022, the eve of Terra’s opening, we received the news of the “Open House Europe” project’s selection for the European Commission’s Creative Europe programme funding. Under the Culture scope, the programme supports a wide range of cultural and creative sectors, including architecture. Within the framework of the European Cooperation Projects, twelve European members of the international Open House network developed an application for Creative Europe funding with a 3-year programme (2023-2025).

Competing for the category of large-scale projects, the application focuses on a programme based on three annual vectors: Sustainability (2023); Accessibility and inclusion (2024); Future Heritage (2025). The project evaluation highlights clear, measurable and realistic objectives, in line with the New European Bauhaus and the Green Deal agenda, with very well developed cross-cutting priorities and an excellent complementarity with other actions, where the European dimension of the partnership is well demonstrated.

Based on a common agenda that responds to the most relevant global challenges, Open House promotes socially responsible and high-quality architecture for broader audiences. This twelve-member consortium specifically proposes to hold accessible events for various social groups and international audiences, revealing the role of architecture as a shared European identity and further promoting the architectural discourse that shapes our everyday lives and the future.

These are the cities and respective entities that took part in the design of the application:
