In The desperation of the desperate desperately despairing for this desperation to heal, Wasted Rita invites us into her personal experience of despair in face of the housing crisis in Lisbon. To cope with the pressure of being evicted from her home, the artist took refuge in reality shows and influencer culture, both sources of escapism and indicators of our human nature being increasingly polarized and alienated. Through drawings, paintings, LED installations, 3D printed sculptures and – for the first time in her work – virtual reality, the artist confronts us with an idyllic scenario that turns out to be a bucket of cold water.
