Caramão House

The Caramão neighbourhood was built as part of the Homes for Poor Families programme. Today, the programme name does not sit well because of the stigma it causes and because, similar to many other areas built in the New State dictatorship, it has undergone profound social changes that are visible in terms of property appreciation in value and renovation of the residences. The design for this three-storey terraced house shows the transformation the current forms of living in a home in comparison to the original forms have gone through. The basement contains the technical spaces and office space. The reception spaces on the ground floor spatially incorporate the kitchen that is open to the living room, while the latter in turn juts into the exterior space with a new volume at the back. The bedroom zone on the first floor features a suite, an exclusive patio and two bedrooms.
