Integrated into the regular grid of the Avenidas Novas district, this example of the work of the Movement for the Renewal of Sacred Art is part of a larger parochial complex that goes unnoticed by the passer-by. The street outside creates an unexpected public space, inviting one to enter and mingle in a churchyard where architecture and city merge. Breaking with religious tradition, the model of the early Romanesque church was recovered, strengthening the relationship between religious space and the surrounding community, which is taken even further by the bare, urban character that the exposed concrete confers upon it. Finely worked in terms of spatiality, details and light, this church holds many surprises for those who enter it and behold its monumental volume.
