About the Place
The Roman Theatre is a part of the Lisbon Museum. This complex has two buildings, one from the 17th century and the other from the 19th century. The space was adapted to serve as a museum, but retained its original architectural features. The views from the museum elucidate why the Romans opted for this place to build a theatre. The edifice can be seen from the Tagus and was placed halfway up a slope, to ascertain the cultural and political power of the Roman Empire.
