Madalena 88 Building

Located between the regimented urban fabric of the Pombaline city centre and the beginning of the Castle slope – a more intricate and topographical design – the building still has an interesting urban condition as the end of a block. In this area, historically residential and recognised for its unified values, there is a diversity of styles and eras, as well as a considerable variation in the colour of the buildings. At the origin of the current single building are two independent buildings from the Pombaline period. With quite significant architectural, constructive, and structural changes, it has been possible to focus greater attention on the conservation and restoration of a set of traditional carpentry and tile finishes, but above all on the mural paintings with naturalistic motifs on the 2nd floor.
