Camões Theatre

A project carried out to integrate the Expo ’98 grounds in the first line of the waterfront with a blue metal plate as the outer covering of the stage volume. It relates to the river through the glazed plan of the main entrance, which is made up of three foyer spaces and two cafeterias with multiple-height ceiling. After projecting an expansion of the theatre to host the National Symphony Orchestra, the building, owned by Estamo, Participações Imobiliárias, was occupied by the National Ballet Company. Although it was not designed for this function, it offers spaces with different features, suitable for daily collective rehearsals, more intimate shows and also for administration, warehouses, loading and unloading, and the residence of the sewing and props team. All these spaces can be visited, as well as the auditorium, which seats 873 people.
